How Financial Aid Need Is Calculated

COA - EFC - EFA = Need

The Cost of Attendance (COA) is the total estimated cost for the school year and includes tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation, loans fees and other miscellaneous expenses. Your EFC is an index number generated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Colorado Application for Student Financial Aid (CASFA). Estimated Financial Aid (EFA) includes grants, scholarships, student loans, veteran’s education benefits, and outside resources. Need is determined by the Cost of Attendance (COA) minus the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) minus any Estimated Financial Assistance (EFA). Financial aid is offered to students who show documented financial need. Financial aid is offered on a rolling basis. until funds are used up.
