ENV 1010: Natural Disasters: GT-SC2

Introduces different types of natural hazards, their causes, effects, and what can be done to reduce the risks to human populations. Scientific advances related to understanding, predicting, and preparing for natural disasters are discussed. This course also covers anthropogenic changes to Earth systems, which may be increasing the frequency and severity of these events. Introduces the basic concepts of ecology and the relationship between environmental problems and biological systems. This course includes interdisciplinary discussions on biology, chemistry, geology, energy, natural resources, pollution, and environmental protection. A holistic approach is used when analyzing how the foundations of natural sciences interconnect with the environment.
